Quick Technology reported on November 17 that China Automotive Digital Research Institute today released the sales list of the 20 cities with the highest Tesla sales in the first three quarters.
According to his introduction, among more than 300 domestic cities, there were 14 cities where Tesla’s cumulative sales exceeded 10,000 from January to September, and the combined sales share of these cities accounted for nearly 55%.
The user groups who buy Tesla are still concentrated in first-tier and new first-tier cities. The top three cities in terms of cumulative sales this year are Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.
The city with the best Tesla sales from January to September was Hangzhou, with cumulative sales this year of nearly 30,000 vehicles. Followed by Shanghai, it is reported that Shanghai has 47 Tesla stores, making it the city with the most Tesla stores, with cumulative sales of 29,000 vehicles this year.
Beijing, Chengdu and Suzhou ranked third to fifth respectively, with cumulative sales of 23,000 vehicles, 20,000 vehicles and 18,000 vehicles respectively, reflecting the strong consumption power of first-tier and new first-tier cities and their recognition and love for the Tesla brand.
In addition to subsidy policies for new energy vehicles, these areas also have relatively complete infrastructure and charging facilities, providing convenient conditions for the travel of new energy vehicles such as Tesla.
The cities ranking sixth to tenth in Tesla sales from January to September were Shenzhen, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Ningbo, Zhengzhou and other cities.
In addition, data from the Passenger Car Association shows that Tesla’s China terminal retail sales in September 2025 were 91,000 vehicles, of which 72,000 were domestic retail sales. Tesla's cumulative domestic sales from January to September were 433,000 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 6%, and its market share also shrunk by nearly 5 percentage points from the same period last year.
Broken down, the cumulative domestic sales of Model Y were 293,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 13.3%. Among them, the sales volume of Model YL just delivered in September was 8,221 units; the performance of Model 3 was relatively eye-catching, with cumulative sales of nearly 140,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.1%.
